I played the £165 GUKPT Summer Series event on Friday 23rd July. It was a bit of a crapshoot but got a decent 45 players. I think I ended up in around 17th place but not really sure. I had just switched from normal poker to shove any two mode and ran into AK in the SB on my first attempted all-in steal. My K2o didn’t get there and I reported to the rail. Earlier on I had chipped up a bit but I went through a card-dead spell and the blinds caught up with me. On the bright side, at least I knocked out KWall with my KK vs his 69 suited. Gordon Bremner was the only Dundee player to cash in this tournament. Murray was unlucky to go out on the money bubble.
After the tourney I jumped in to the £1/1 NLH cash game. There was a rowdy £1/1 Dealer’s Choice game going but it wasn’t for me. I got off to a great start but accidently dropped £160 in a hand with trip kings vs a full house. The guy bet into me three times and I probably should have found a fold but I didn’t have a good read on his play at the time so elected to call his £100 river bet. After that I got a little back but nothing too exciting went down for me. I called it a night around 3am and realised my £160 loss.
After the DC game broke up Eddie G and a drunken KWall moved over to our NLH game. Eddie had raped the DC game for at least a grand and KWall had also done well after sucking out in a couple of big pots. KWall brought over about four or five hundred but was still covered initially by an American guy at the table. Wallace was pushing hard and making massive overbets including raising his £2 straddle by £100 after everyone limped in (everyone folded and he showed something like 57o). He played a massive hand with the American guy after I left. Apparently USA raised it £25 pre-flop and KWall called out of position with 77. The flop came down 689 and Kev open-shoved £650 into the £55 pot! USA insta-called it with AQo and he had £500+ in front of him! The turn was a 5, USA was drawing dead and KWall dragged in a monster pot. Madness. What a luckbox he is to get such a ridiculous donation.
